Saucon Collaboration Announcement

alt text

Nov 11th, 2023 Saucon Technologies works with partner companies to create telematics open architecture framework.

The Open Telematics Framework is being designed to allow companies to accelerate time to market and reduce costs. It allows each company to write their telematics application once and deploy it to any telematics hardware running the Open Telematics Framework. This write once, run anywhere approach will eliminate the complex customization and reprogramming efforts that have historically burdened telematics application developers. It also incorporates the latest cybersecurity capabilities.

The Open Telematics Framework is a collaboration between numerous companies in the industry and not just a Cummins-focused effort. Participants will not be locked into any proprietary solutions. The goal is for companies to collaborate on a solution to grow capabilities, enhancing the Open Telematics Framework to serve an even broader range of developers, OEMs, and aftermarket telematics providers, including Saucon Technologies and Platform Science.

Saucon prepares for Canadian ELD Mandate

alt text

April 14, 2021 The Canadian ELD Mandate as established by the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) requires that as of June 12, 2021, all carriers operating in Canada, who are currently required to use paper or electronic records of duty status, will be required to use a certified ELD. This also carries with it a third-party certification process for all electronic logging devices used in Canada. This certification is to be conducted by a CCMTA-accredited, third-party organization and bears a significant cost to the ELD provider. Read more here

Saucon participates in IMG's 2021 Maintenance and Safety Forum

alt text

March 24, 2021 Saucon Technologies was privileged in having the opportunity to participate and conduct a Saucon User Group session as a part of the 2021 International Motorcoach Group (IMG) Maintenance and Safety Forum held on March 9th.

The Saucon Product Team showcased exciting new technology that focused on what is critical to motor coach operators right now – helping Drivers and efficient Fleet Operations. Specifically demonstrated were the Saucon System interface, commonly known as the “portal”, and tools designed to assist Operators to improve efficiency while continuing to multitask as the nation, and truly the world, is emerging from the past year of uncertainty and industry loss of business.

The session highlighted three innovative products from Saucon : Compliance Module, Safe Driver Program and Touch-to-Talk, the newest two-way voice communication functionality. All three components offer cost-saving opportunities and improvements for efficient use of existing technology. The Compliance Module has direct impact on labor cost by efficiently tracking and organizing audit-ready reports including Driver Qualifications, Hours of Service, Accident Registers, Insurance, DVIR and Maintenance.

The Safe Driver Program is an extension of the existing standard Driver Performance Report. The new features enhance the ability to drill-down into individual drivers to view individual performance over a period of time. In addition, drivers are able to get instant feedback through the Saucon Touch onboard driver display unit. These portal enhancements and driver display features provides Operators with the right tools to quickly measure and identify driving habits (idling, speeding, hard stops and hard turns, etc.). These behaviors have a direct impact on managing fuel costs, maintenance and potentially costly infractions.

Touch-to-Talk is the new functionality available with the existing Saucon Touch driver display device that allows two-way voice communication between the Driver and Dispatch with minimal driver distraction. This two-way communication functionality provides an extremely cost-effective alternative for two-way radio hand-held devices or unnecessary cellular phones and data plans.

For more information about these and other system features, please contact Saucon at tdsinfo@saucontech.com

Saucon partners with SKF to develop Wheel-End Monitor

alt text

January 21, 2020 - The SKF TraX wheel-end monitor (WEM) now can be integrated with a heavy-duty truck or motor-coach vehicle’s existing telematics solution or operated as a smart mobile-device application.

The SKF TraX WEM is a sensor unit installed on the wheels of heavy-duty or coach vehicles to intelligently monitor wheel-end vibration and temperature to detect any potential issues.

For buses, such as motor coaches and other automotive transit vehicles, the SKF TraX WEM operates with an existing Saucon telematics system through the use of Saucon IoT gateways. If the customer is using another telematics system, the Saucon IoT gateways can provide seamless access to the SKF TraX WEM data.

Saucon Technologies Announces Availability of Cummins Remote Monitoring and Over-the-Air Programming Suite

BETHLEHEM, Pa., Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Saucon Technologies today announced the delivery of a remote, telematics-based connectivity suite designed to maximize uptime and improve the reliability and performance of compatible Cummins engines. The two companies have been working collaboratively to integrate and deliver Saucon's innovative telematics infrastructure with Cummins' Connected Advisor and Connected Software Updates, to introduce a new approach to predictive fleet management.

Cummins' Connected Advisor can provide prioritized, time-based recommendations to help fleet managers distinguish between immediate repair needs and those that can be scheduled a few days out. Fault reports, including suggested root causes and recommended actions, are sent to fleet managers daily to help initiate the repair process. For faults requiring prompt attention, immediate notifications are provided instantly so fleet managers can make informed decisions when their equipment is in the field.

Cummins' Connected Software Updates installs a key technical requirement to enable Cummins upcoming over-the-air programming (OTAP) suite, including the current feature to update engine control modules through cellular or WiFi connectivity within a matter of minutes. Fleet managers are notified of software updates available for their compatible engines via a web-based portal. The online interface empowers fleet managers to update an individual engine or scale update deployments across multiple vehicles, with the option to pre-approve updates to automatically install upon release from Cummins.

"Connected software updates keep Cummins equipment in the field longer," said Director of Digital Solutions at Cummins, Todd Mysak. "Our new wireless solution takes about five minutes to calibrate a vehicle's ECM remotely, enabling customers to keep their engines running at peak performance while reducing service costs and downtime. The collaboration between Saucon Technologies and Cummins has been beneficial on many levels."

"Saucon Technologies continuously strives to provide additional value for our customers," said CEO of Saucon Technologies, Bill French. "Through our work with Cummins, we can now jointly deliver actionable information, predictive maintenance and remote software updates that can optimize uptime and performance for their engines."

Saucon Technologies is pleased to announce that it has received a 100% compliance verification of its ELD product from an independent third party.

Saucon Technologies contracted PIT Group (FPInnovations), a neutral testing, research, and engineering group for the North American transportation industry, to independently evaluate and verify that its ELD product was 100% compliant with FMCSA regulations. PIT Group’s rigorous tests were conducted in accordance with the test plans and procedures issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and included in the final ELD regulations. The tests included lab and bench testing, as well as a road test conducted on a motorcoach.

“Compliance is of extreme importance to our customers,” says Bill French, President of Saucon Technologies. “We were confident that we were on the right track with our interpretation of the regulations and testing of our product. However, recent announcements about the difficulties other self-certified ELD providers were experiencing with compliancy of their products encouraged us to seek additional assurance from a neutral, independent company. We always strive to offer our customers the best with our products, and we feel it is of great value that we can provide this additional safety net to them.”

Saucon would like to thank Coach USA and Coach Canada for their support in this certification process, and their donation of a coach and driver used during the road test portion. It is representative of their continued commitment to industry safety and compliance.
